COURSES SYNOPSIS – Here’s is a short synopsis of some of our courses, with the following prerequisites to all courses, special ones are listed with the respective course. ACCESS I (Database) – Costs: $23 ($41), 4 x 1 ½ hrs = 6 hrs, Self paced module: $30 ($60) Dates: Monday 11,18,25 October & 1 November 2010, 9:30 am Lesson 1 –
table building. Prerequisite – You must have completed ACCESS I and it continues to a more advanced level. The following topics
will be covered.
COMPUTER BASICS – Costs: $23 ($41), 4 x 1 ½ hrs = 6 hrs, Self paced module: $30 ($60) Dates: TBA This course provides
a solid foundation in basic computer concepts and the essentials of
hardware, software, operating systems, the Internet and more. You will be taught
how to create greeting cards using the American Create-A-Card program. This course covers all aspects of digital media except digital movie making; beginning with on how to manage digital music, the course moves on to converting analogue music (such as tapes and vinyl LPs) to CDs. MEDIA PLAYER
– Costs: $11 ($17), 1 x 2 hrs = 2 hrs Note: You will need to bring with you
EASY WEB – Costs: $11 ($17), 1 x 2 hrs Dates: TBA This course shows how to make a simple website quickly and easily without any HTML coding required.
USING EXCEL I (Spreadsheet) – Costs: $23 ($41),
4 x 1 ½ hrs = 6 hrs, Self paced module: $30 ($60)
Dates: TBA This course introduces
the basic ideas people need to know about how to use a spreadsheet.
Concepts include entering and editing text data, entering and editing
numerical data, formatting text and numerical data, sorting data, using
sample formulae and creating graphs. This course assumes
that you have completed EXCEL I or already have a good knowledge of
spreadsheet basics.
FACEBOOK – Costs: $11 ($17), 1 x 2 hrs = 2 hrs Dates: TBA This course is an introduction to Facebook for those that haven't used it before and are thinking of taking the plunge or those who have just started and want to know a little more.

– Costs: $11 ($17), 1 x 2 hrs = 2 hrs
USING THE INTERNET
– Costs: $23 ($41), 4 x 1 ½ hrs = 6 hrs, Self paced module:
$30 ($60)
Dates: TBA Students learn about
the difference between the Internet and the World Wide Webb, about viruses
and computer protection, about searching techniques, about search engines
such as Google. SENDING
& RECEIVING E-MAILS WITH OUTLOOK EXPRESS
– Costs: $11 ($17), 1 x 2 hrs = 2 hrs
PICASA (Photo Editing) – Costs: $11 ($17) 1 x 2 hrs Dates: TBA This course will cover how to remove red eye, crop photos, rise or lower brightness and contrast, transform coloured photos to B&W or sepia, and add numerous special effects such as blurring and background tinting. PHOTOSHOP

PHOTOSTORY
3 (Creating your own “videos”) – Costs: $11
($17), 1 x 2 hrs = 2 hrs Photo Story helps
you create exciting video stories by adding panning and zooming effects
to your pictures. Use Photo Story to record narration for your pictures,
add titles and background music to your story. You can also share your
story INTRODUCTION TO POWERPOINT (Presentation) – Costs: $23 ($41), 4 x 1 ½ hrs = 6 hrs, Self paced module: $30 ($60) Dates: TBA You will be introduced
to the features of Power Point, creating and saving a presentation,
using a design template, inserting text and graphics, creating a folder
to store a presentation, previewing and printing a presentation. You must be competent
in word processing to do the course. TRAIN THE
TRAINER – Costs: Free ($41), 3 x 2 hrs = 6 hrs This course is for people who wish to become volunteer trainers for their club. It assumes a basic knowledge of several programs, and delves into teaching techniques. It is mainly about "How to Teach" rather than "What to Teach". WORD I
(Word Processing) – Costs: $23 ($41), 4 x 1 ½ hrs = 6 hrs,
Self paced module: $30 ($60) This 4 week course
is part one of a two stage course and introduces participants to the
basics of word processing. Learn how to the appearance of text by using
italics, bold and underlining; by changing the WORD II (Word Processing) – Costs (One-On-One): $36 ($72) 4 x 1 ½ hrs = 6 hrs, Self paced module: $30 ($60) Also 4 weeks in length, this course takes the user to the more advanced aspects of word processing: importing graphics such as clip art and pictures; writing in columns; designing a 3-fold pamphlet; using frames and tables; page numbering and headers or footers; word art. Mail merge is not covered. CREATING
LABELS (Word Processing) – Costs: $11 ($17),1 x 2 hrs
= 2 hrs This course will show you all the tips and tricks for creating small numbers of professional labels with Microsoft Word. CREATING
ENVELOPES (Word Processing) – Costs: $11 ($17),1 x 2
hrs = 2 hrs This course will show you all the tips and tricks for creating small numbers of professional envelopes with Microsoft Word. CREATING

You may also download it from here. The Member’s Kit CD is also available for $2.00 at any of our activities should you be in need of one. You will receive a full refund if the course is fully booked or cancelled. A minimum of 3 enrolments must be received before a course commences (One-On-One training excepted) All fees must be paid on enrolment and are not refundable except in very extenuating circumstances to be dealt with by committee on a case by case basis. Students must acknowledge to the e-mail sent to them before a course commences. Students are warned that failure to respond could jeopardise the course starting. Those without an e-mail address will be contacted by phone. The confirmation should be received 14 days before the starting date of a course. All courses are given a clear notice of the starting date and failure to turn up will result in forfeiture of fees paid. This may be appealed in writing to the committee. You can collect
